Dedicated to peace...

Earth, Rocks, and Wood

Earth.  Rocks.  Wood.

Commonplace.

In fact, there are few things more ordinary in our world than earth, rocks, and wood.

On May 19th, 2007, in Garden Valley, Idaho, ordinary earth, rocks, and wood combined with conscious intention became extraordinary building materials for peace.

During a family gathering at the Light in the Woods Chapel, twenty-five people built a Meditation Labyrinth and dedicated a Peace Pole.  During the Dedication Ceremony, one by one, everyone present removed a shovel full of earth for the Peace Pole and spoke words of peace.  It was an emotional experience and special day for me because after nearly two years of moving through countless changes, this was the culmination of a vision...a dream come true.  With the assistance of my six siblings and their spouses, several nephews and nieces, my Aunt and Uncle, three cousins, and a feisty Boxer named JoBe, this acre of land in the Idaho Mountains was and is forever dedicated to Peace.

Over the past month I cleared the ground, gathered the rocks for the labyrinth, and carved the letters of a Peace Prayer (in four languages) into the Peace Pole.  Doing so was a true labor of love, as was the entire building process on May 19th.

In addition to my family, I felt the spiritual presence of many personal friends and supporters of Vision Peace Ministries whose dedication to peace helped make this possible.  They are the visionaries, the committed beings who believe creating a more peaceful world is truly possible.  This monument to peace stands because of their steadfast vision.  I am grateful.
